I liked this episode. It was one of those light hearted episodes that wasn't too sad. I liked the bit where Charles is in Potter's office listening to the music in his shorts and t-shirt Charles would make a good CO (in my opinion)

Yes, it's another case of Charles' good deeds getting overlooked. I don't think Potter had any right to get angry with Charles - the Colonel never has any qualms about using Klinger to run errands or do non-regulation stuff (eg sitting on the Colonel's horse while Potter paints him!) but the minutes Charles does likewise he gets into trouble for it. Charles was perfectly willing to help out with the Dutch officer, and to 'loan' Klinger to the Captains re same but did he get any thanks for it? Nope - same old sneers. This episode is usually shown before 'Operation Friendship', which completely makes a nonesense of the scene in the later episode when the Colonel asks Charles if he can type/file/make coffee etc. If Charles had already been "office boy", Potter should know what he can do.

They like criticising Charles for some reason. They try and make him out to be a horrible man when we know he's not.
A lot of MASH fans see it that way too and you can't convince them otherwise.

I was complimented in a review about how I depicted Charles in command in my "Sonnets in the Dark." I think I had it pegged: he'd treat everyone like the help: let them do their thing and interfere if necessary. He wouldn't get into micromanaging like Hawkeye does when he's in charge, ya think?

Yes, I think you got it right. The one time we saw him in command, in this episode, he seemed quite happy to just let people get on with what they were doing.

I liked Charles in this episode. He was very laid back in his position of CO. And ya gotta love the uniform -- or lack there-of
