I watched this today and noticed that Charles was crying before Potter's toast to his old army buddies (I always thought he like all the others cried during Potter's toast).
He seemed to be crying before everyone else.

He seemed to be crying before everyone else. Harry Morgan's toast to his old buddies chokes me up every time. I think they filmed about seven takes, and he said it equally movingly each time. Could be that the other actors were filmed on different takes, and its just the way the whole thing was spliced together that makes it seem Charles is crying before everyone else.

Harry's toast gets me everytime. By the end of the scene I'm blubbering like a big baby.

Me too! Harry really knew how to play an emotional scene like that without laying it on too thick, or tipping over into hamminess. No wonder David admired him so much, and regarded him as his "professional father".
