I have a question about the show that Shelley Long hosted. When they are doing the segment on Charles and they are talking to David, does he have a wedding band on his right hand? It looks like a gold wedding band. If any of you have the program can you take a look at it and let me know.
I know in all his biographies it says he has never been married. Could he have been doing filming on another program when they taped it? I really can't see the reason to keep being married a secret.
And I loved the segment where they showed him conducting the orchestra. I know we all would pay anything to see him conduct an orchestra in person.
His parents seemed like very nice, down to earth people. I would have loved to hear a comment from his dad. They must have been really proud of their son.

I watched it again on TVLand in case it was some other type of ring. But it looks like a gold wedding band. I know in some cultures they do wear the ring on the right hand. But OG tell me this, why would all his bios say he has never been married and is single if he was married? I can see not wanting to put out his son's name as a matter of privacy. But why say you are single if you aren't? I have come up with another idea. Didn't his father pass away not too long ago? Could it be his Dad's wedding band? I knew of people when a spouse passed away would keep their wedding bands. Who knows, this probably will be another mystery from the world of DOS.

Okay, he's NOT married, and has never been married, so there's no conflict or conspiracy around keeping anything secret. (I know this 'cos I knew someone who used to be able to access US real estate records, which showed, among other things, mortgagees' marital status).
During the program you are referring to ('Memories of MASH') his mum and dad were both still alive - in fact, they appeared on screen. So the ring is unlikely to have been his father's, I think!
Maybe someone gave him the ring? The fact he doesn't wear it any more may or may not be significant - stuff gets lost, or he might have found he was allergic to the metal, or he might have decided it was too much hassle to keep remembering to put on/off depending on the role he was playing on stage/screen.Or, as Marianne suggests, it might have been that he was filming something else at the same time, and couldn't be bothered taking off the costume ring to film his interview!

Thanks Kay, you know some interesting people. Didn't mean to imply any conspiracy. And I had a bit of a brain freeze because I saw his parents in that segment. I chalk it up to my mind going for a walk and forgetting how to get back. ;D
