It amazes me how many authors believe Charles is going to be a distant/indifferent father. Where were these people when he was cuddling that Korean infant, or having the heart-to-heart with Hawkeye about his own father?

I don't think many fanfic writers actually get Charles' character quite right. I certainly don't think he'd be distant with his own children.
Mind you, I haven't read much fanfiction in a while, so I don't know.
I tend to stick to the stories of one or two authors.

I usually only read Charles-centric ones, so I've definitely been starved of good stories for a while!

I usually only read Charles-centric ones, so I've definitely been starved of good stories for a while! The trouble is there aren't many authors that write more than maybe one Charles story. Kate Halleron doesn't write M*A*S*H fanfics any more, stanford9 has her mind on another fandom, I don't write anymore. I have been tempted to write again.

Sigh, I'm sorry ladies... I know my Muse turns from one fandom/character to another.
As for Charles being a daddy, the final chapter in "Visions of the things to be" ALWAYS makes me cry, and I wrote the darned thing! Naw, I think Charles would be a great daddy, knowing what to avoid from his own upbringing.
Now that the MASH area has the character search feature, I'll be sure to look for the new stuff.
