I always have got the impression that he didn't like Charles very much, I know he respected Charles as a surgeon but as a person I don't think Potter was too keen on him.
Anyone else got any thoughts about this?
(BTW: The only time Potter called Charles by his first name was in GFA when Charles compliments him. he says something like 'Why thank you Charles, you are a fine surgeon' just makes me cry all the time)

I think Potter certainly wasn't over-friendly with him in the earlier eps Charles was in. But in 'The Life you Save', when he phones him at Battalion Aid, I get the impression that he's really concerned about Charles' well-being. When he says "Has it occurred to you that you could get yourself killed up there?" he sounds almost paternally panicky.

I can think of at least two friendshippy moments with Charles and Potter:
One regarding Mildred, when Charles says something like, "If you don't send that dear sweet woman flowers this very instant, you are a cad." (well, something like that) and Potter heartily agrees.
The one with the tauntine (sp?), he and Potter seem to be really connecting, since Charles is the only one who knows what it is.

Just thought of another (in fact, the episode is on in a minute!) - the one where Charles is supposed to do the Charity collection. When he goes in to Potter's office in the last scene, Potter looks at his watch and says "Right on time - I like that!" and there's quite a nice scene between them as Charles admits he paid for everybody.

I think it's "tontine". Thought of another nice moment - in 'Heal Thyself', when Charles is so worried about the mumps affecting his fertility, and Potter reassures him.

You see I forget these things.
At the beginning I wasn't sure if Potter liked Charles (I was watching S6 yesterday) but I have never appreciated those other moments that you've pointed out.
I'm learning a lot more from this forum.

I think it's cool how you UK folks and we North American folks get essentially the same eps, so we can all talk about them! (Didn't know if some of us were Canadian, after all.) I'm going to miss Charles, but it'll be nice seeing Trapper again, it'll help me in my fics, it's been so long! Seeing Henry again is always good, but sad too, knowing what's gonna happen to him (esp. when he talks about his wife and going home, things like that.)

Just thinking of other examples of Potter and Charles being on good terms. There's the scene in the OC where Potter was telling Charles a risque joke, and amended the ending when he realised Father Mulcahy was nearby (Stanford9 mentioned this in another thread somewhere).
When Potter has to watch his blood pressure, he really appreciates that Charles just stayed away from him instead of fussing around like the others did.
And in 'Foreign Affairs', when Charles is in the OC drowning his sorrows, Potter (not realising how bad Charles was feeling) starts a friendly conversation about the charms of French women.

Thanks, kay, I knew I'd mentioned that scene in the OC and the rather ribald joke Charles is sharing with Potter, and thought it was this thread, so I was wondering where it was, lol!
I think that's the perfect scene showing they're really friends, or at least more than the two guys in charge of the camp, Colonel to Major. I think it's nice seeing the two chugging drinks together and sharing non-military chatter like that.

Have just been rewatching 'The Red/White Blues' (where Potter has to watch his blood pressure) and at the beginning of the scene in the OC, BJ says to Charles "Want some invigorating company?" Charles replies "Certainly - sit down, Colonel - see you, fellas!" (meaning the Colonel's welcome to join him but BJ and Hawkeye can take a hike). So he definitely has a good deal of respect for Potter.
